IBLS and Intego Abogados y Consultores lead European Initiative

One of the fundamental European Commission (EC) initiatives is to further e-commerce. This has been identified by the EC as being a strategically imperative necessity in order to drive European competitiveness in the global marketplace. In response to this identified need, IBLS has partnered with Intego Abogados y Consultores, a top tier Spanish Law and Consulting Firm, in an effort to meet this identified European market need.

IBLS, in conjunction with Intego Abogados y Consultores, will be working on different European e-commerce legal initiatives in its effort to formulate the most strategically relevant solutions. IBLS expects the project to take place in partnership with EC. The expected rollout of this initiative is projected to have a time horizon of three to five years.

This IBLS multiple partnership effort is expected to lead in a rollout of a European Internet laws portal solution targeted to the European Government, Business and individual user community by the end of 2005.

Quarterly Theme - Intellectual Property and the Internet

Continuing with this month's newsletter, IBLS is introducing a new quarterly theme, this time on "Intellectual Property and the Internet”, another very important area of Internet and E-Commerce Law. A selected theme is covered in a special summary from the IBLS database. This month's summary focuses on the first judicial proceedings in Georgia in regards to the conflict of a trademark and domain name.

Scott Wishart to Join IBLS as a New Director of IBLS Europe, Middle East and Africa

We are pleased to announce an addition to our management and development group. Scott S. Wishart Esq. joins IBLS' Barcelona office as a new Director of IBLS Operations in Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Scott brings to our management group an extensive educational background, terrifically matched to our development needs. In addition to Scott’s U.S. legal training, he also holds a "Licence spéciale en droit européen" – (a "LLM in European Law"), as well as an MBA, a Master of Public and International Affairs, a Master of Science in the Management of Information Systems, and he also serves as an adjunct faculty member in Comparative Law at the University of Navarra,Spain.

Scott's career path has held an equally fortuitous course from the perspective of IBLS' development needs. In addition to incorporating on both sides of the Atlantic as a Business Analyst and Systems Consultant for Federal Express, Scott served as a Lobbyist at the European Parliament and as one of the Legal Editors in the Supreme Court Federal Unit of Shepard's Citations, a division of LexisNexis Web Publishing.

With his education, management experience and editorial training to back him up, our expectations are high. Welcome aboard, Scott!
