LEXISNEXIS To Distribute IBLS Database

LexisNexis is the latest content aggregator partner that will be distributing IBLS content. LexisNexis has agreed to distribute the IBLS internet laws and regulations database as part of its informational products available through its portal. Starting as of June, 2005 the IBLS database will be made available to the LexisNexis world wide audience at www.lexisnexis.com.

Quarterly Theme - Online Contracting: "HEALTH CLAIMS ON THE INTERNET"

Continuing with this month's newsletter, IBLS is presenting a quarterly theme on online contracting, another of the very important aspects of Internet and E-Commerce Law. A selected theme is covered in a special summary from the IBLS database. This month's summary focuses on the challenges in regulating online health claims in different global jurisdiction.

The title of this week's summary is "FALSE AND UNSUBSTANTIATED HEALTH CLAIMS ON THE INTERNET WILL BE FOUND TO VIOLATE THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION ACT" The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settled a case against a California Web site that claimed to offer an alternative cancer treatment. The commission has issued warnings to nearly 300 additional sites making "questionable" health claims.
