Topic of the Week from the Latin America Law Portal - "E-COMMERCE PRIVACY AND SECURITY: THE CERTIFICATION AUTHORITIES" As an introduction to the new Latin America Law portal, the following Topic of the Week selection, "E-COMMERCE PRIVACY AND SECURITY: THE CERTIFICATION AUTHORITIES" sheds light on an area of vital importance for any E-venture in Latin America:
Knowing the Privacy and Security Laws of the countries involved in their transactions is essential for entrepreneurs dealing with electronic commerce. But the issue of certification authorities is a very important issue for online retailers. Who they are, what technological system are they using, and which authority is used in each of the Latin American countries should be of primary interest to the electronic business community.
E-commerce transactions involve providing and handling sensitive information. E-commerce users (companies, banks, government institutions, and private parties), require protection of their confidential information. Communications and the exchange of data over the Internet must be safe from any unauthorized access and from modifications done by unauthorized individuals.
To read the Topic of the Week in its entirety, please visit the Latin America Law Portal and click on "Topic of the Week".
