IBLS Announces New Directors of it's Regional Law Divisions

In conjunction with the launch of IBLS' U.S. Law portal and EU Law portal, IBLS is pleased to announce the appointments of Alain Megias as Director of IBLS EU Law and Samara Naime as Director of IBLS U.S. Law.

With the opening of IBLS’ EU Law portal, Alain Megias, a French attorney, will coordinate with IBLS Charter Partners in providing IBLS' worldwide audience with the latest information on how Internet and E-Commerce laws in Europe affect those with an Internet business presence in the region. IBLS recognizes the need to provide a comprehensive, yet regionally specialized focus within the framework of Global E-Commerce Law.

Samara Naime, an American attorney, will provide similar leadership for the IBLS U.S. Law portal. Ms. Naime's specialization in E-Commerce Law and activities in the United States is just some of the expertise she brings to the U.S. Law portal. For IBLS' audience, this portal will be a resource that ties together rulings/regulations with practical legal information for a complete solution to Internet Law needs.

2002 IBLS Distinguished Writing Award Goes To...

IBLS wants to thank all the Charter and Network Partners for the excellent law summaries that were submitted during 2002. All the summaries received after the deadline, November 2002, will be included in the competition for 2003. After a competitive judging process,IBLS' Board of Editors is pleased to announce that the IBLS Distinguished Legal Writing Award for 2002 goes to Carsten Witter of Alpers & Stenger in Hamburg, Germany. Mr. Witter will receive 500 stock options in International Business Law Services.

Alpers & Stengerís expertise lies in advising businesses in legal, tax and administrative issues relating to their business restructuring, sale, and legal classification as well as general advice in the areas of Tax, Corporate, and Commercial Law. This includes legal advice and tax advice for start-up companies until their initial public offering at the Stock Exchanges and the set-up of Joint Ventures and Venture Capital Funds.

E-Business Re-Engineering: Chessmate in Five Moves, by Claudia Gramaccia

Claudia Gramaccia explains how technology enables businesses to compete beyond boundaries that incorporate dynamic macro economic environments. She looks at interconnected value chains and how technology has moved competition to the value network level. The re-engineering of business is something that is a crucial daily activity, allowing knowledge to be the competitive advantage in the net-economy. Ms. Gramaccia is currently a Professor of e-Business at University of Perugia, Italy, Faculty of Economics- SIGI. She has also served as Managing Director of KIMIA SPA in Perugia,Italy. IBLS CEO Ana Penn to speak January 13th at the Center for International Legal Studies Conference in Kitzbühel, Austria

The Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) is holding a conference entitled "High-Tech Law: E-Commerce, Information Technology, and Telecommunications" in Kitzbühel, Austria, January 12-18th, 2003.

IBLS CEO Ana Penn is an appointed speaker on E-Commerce Law, and she will present some of the key legal factors to be considered in the development of a successful E-Commerce business.
