The Sale of Cars over the Internet under European Law

The growth of electronic commerce worldwide gives new commercial opportunities to car distributors. Under European law, the Treaty of Rome prohibits several distribution systems as anti-competitive practices. In order to boost the car sector, the European Commission adopted the new Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (the “Regulation”) on July 17, 2002.
