Mail Bombing Under French Law

Mail bombing is a specific crime under French law, punishable under Article 323-2 of the Penal Code. In Philippe P. (May 24, 2002), the Criminal Court of Paris has applied this Article for the first time in a case involving the sending of several hundred thousand of messages to the email address of an individual. This first criminal conviction might be the manifestation of a trend to impose stiffer sentences for e-mail abuses.
