Electronic Publication Rights Of Freelance Writers

The decision of New Times Co. v. Tasini, demonstrated that the publishing companies may hold rights to publish articles in periodicals from freelance writer, but not the right to re- publish the works in electronic format or on an electronic database. This decision illustrated that technology that had not existed at the time that these contracts were entered into were not secured as well.
