Romania's Trademark Law

The Romanian Law on Trademarks and Geographical Indication No. 84/1998 and its implementing regulations protect certain distinctive signs in the form of individual marks, collective marks, and certification marks. In addition, since January 1, 2007, Romanian trademarks are accepted as valid European “community trademarks” and receive protection throughout the EU. The Romanian law 84/1998 and its implementing regulations cover matters related to the eligibility, registration, opposition, enforcement, and cancellation of trademarks and related marks.
