RESTRICTIONS ON SALE OF OR USE OF INTERACTIVE, ARCADE, OR OFF-LINE VIDEO GAMES IN AUSTRALIA

Currently, Australia has a strict regime for rating video games. Generally, unless exempt from classification, computer games -including amusement arcade games- must be classified by the Classification Board or the Classification Review Board before they can be sold, hired, or demonstrated in Australia. Some, however, argue that the current rating system does not adequately cover the needs of ‘adult only’ video games.
