Investigating Cyber Extortion

The major issue related to investigating cyber extortion is that law enforcement authorities are not always informed of extortion threats. Organizations sometimes fear that alerting authorities would cost them more in bad publicity than settling cyber extortionists demands by paying relatively small “protection fees.”
