Real Name Based Internet Election Campaign

On March 22, 2004, the Korean National Assembly passed the Public Election and Election Unjustness Prevention Act (“Election Act” or EA) in light of the election for National Assembly, which occurred on April 15, 2004. One of the most important provisions in the current amendment is to allow election campaigns through the internet in order to improve the Korean election environment. Considering the generalization of Internet usage in today’s society and the need to prevent further abuses of the traditional off-line election campaign methods, the internet election campaign has been evaluated as an appropriate reform, truly reflecting the current social changes.
