Video Surveillance In The Workplace

Video cameras and invisible eyes follow us almost everywhere in our daily activities. In banks, stores, on public transportation and when passing the toll booth we are being watched. We live in a constant state of uncertainty between feeling safe and protected, because of the surveillance, and less free because of this continuous and ever-growing violation of our privacy. Businesses have been incited to install video cameras even in the workplace in order to ensure better security and controls. The law 675/96 regarding the protection of individuals and other subjects with regard to the processing of their personal data and the Workers’ Statute have been interpreted in such a way as to ensure that our privacy is respected insofar as possible when surveillance activities are carried out.
