Japanese Involvement In Asia In The Field Of Information And Communications Technology

The Japanese Government considers that Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”) is crucial for the economic development of Asia. As a consequence, Japan has been assisting other Asian countries in the development of their ICT sectors. This assistance follows different goals, and is organized in four main pillars, which are: (i) raising awareness and contributing intellectually to policy and institution-building; (ii) developing and training human resources; (iii) building infrastructure and providing assistance for networking; and (iv) promoting the use of IT in development assistance.
