Personal Data Protection Under The Law Of Korea

Personal data protection in Korea is regulated by the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Data Protection 1999, which was enacted to provide guidelines for personal data protection in the private sector (the “ADP”). The ADP adopts several principles such as the principles of data protection, the rights of data subjects, the responsibility of service providers, and possible remedies following the infringement of personal data.
