Computer Crimes Under The Law Of The Philippines

E-Commerce related crimes are regulated by the Electronic Commerce Act n. 8792 of June 14, 2000 (the “Electronic Commerce Act” or “ECA”), which creates the legal framework for electronic commerce transactions in the Philippines. The ECA sets forth several regulations aimed at supporting electronic transactions, and notably punishes individuals who commit e-commerce-related crimes with a minimum fine of P100, 000.00 and a maximum commensurate with the damage caused, and an imprisonment of up to 3 years.
