Eu Topic: The Treatment Of Illegal And Harmful Content On The Internet In The Eu
Illegal and harmful content on the Internet is a continuing concern for lawmakers, industry and parents. The EU has been a forerunner in the fight against illegal and harmful content on the Internet since 1996, with the Safer Internet Action Plan, which is a major element in the Commission’s activity in this field. The previous action plan ended on December 31, 2002, but the European Commission has proposed a follow-up of this Action Plan ensuring it to run until the end of 2004. The related Commission Communication, concerning the promotion of a safer use of the Internet by combating illegal and harmful content on global networks, is available here.
