Basic Rules Of Electronic Contracts Under Spanish Law

In Spain, the rules applicable to electronic contracts both includes general principles of contract law and laws deriving from European Directives, often aimed at protecting consumers. The execution of electronic agreements is regulated by the Spanish Civil Code. In addition, electronic contracts are regulated by the Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (“LISSEC,”) dated July 11, 2002, which is based on the E-Commerce European Directive 2000/31/CE.
