Protection of Designs under Hong Kong Intellectual Property Law

Honk Kong affords territorial protection to designs provided that they appeal to and can be judged by the eye in the finished article. Hence, designs registered under the Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China or any other country do not automatically receive protection in Hong Kong. Designs may include a range of elements, e.i., shapes, configuration, pattern or ornament of an article. Registration confers the owner of the registered design the right to prevent other from manufacturing, importing, using, selling or hiring out their design products.
